TASTING NOTE - MESLIER

Picked at around 10.5 baumé when fruit develops some lifted florals and flavours of ‘green apple’ whilst retaining high acidity.  At this level the unique Meslier varietal characters are obvious. Base wines are very pale in colour with lifted apple fruit and crisp, racy acidity.  Vintage wines are allowed to mature on yeast lees for 24-36 months before final blending with 40-50% of a younger vintage.  Our Meslier Brut Rosé is the only single varietal Meslier Rosé produced in the world that we are aware of at this point in time.

TASTING NOTES- GALGO

Made in the Blanc de Blanc style - A French term meaning "White from Whites"- Our elegant sparkling Brut displays vibrant pear and citrus aromas complimented with juicy white peach and hints of lemon zest with a refreshing dry finish.

As with all our wines, the Meslier Sparkling Brut Rose & the Galgo are Vegan friendly.

About the Label

Meslier:

A fresh and vibrant sparkling wine that is unique to Levrier. Meslier is one of the rarer varieties grown, in the Champagne District of France with only a few hectares known to exist worldwide. Our Meslier grapes are grown in the cooler climate of the Adelaide Hills, and as far as we are aware, is currently only one of two varietal Meslier sparkling wines produced, making this, one of the most exclusive sparkling wines in the world.

Galgo

Spanish word meaning greyhound, “Galgo” is a creation of Jo’s love for making Sparkling wines.

A blend of white grapes from two famous grape growing regions Barossa and Adelaide Hills, Jo wanted to develop a blend that was delicious, affordable, elegant and refreshing. Perfect for celebratory occasions or a Sunday afternoon partake.

Meslier

“Produced mostly from the very rare (sparkling) grape variety, meslier, in a rosé style. It's tart and racy, very refreshing and coursing with ultrafine,
brisk bubbles. Lots of fragrance, more green apple, faint cherry, light cinnamon dusting and some grapefruity lift. The palate feels set to a distinct aperitif style, delicate, pure, more of the apple and grapefruit, with very faint savoury elements in play.
Very refreshing, tightly wound, great persistence and general energy.

This is a real treat.”
Mike Bennie, Wine Companion

" Gorgeously stylish and elegant, the banquet shows ripe strawberry, crunchy apple, lemon peel and oatmeal aromas, leading to a finely focused palate that's wonderfully concentrated and persistent.      The wine is refined and complex with seductively textured mouthfeel."

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit New Zealand 2024

Arguably the world’s rarest sparkling wine due to such tiny amounts of the Meslier grape variety planted and the fact that Joanne is talented enough to turn this Champagne grape variety into an elegant Australian sparkling wine of soft citrus and green apple finesse, which she created to specifically enjoy with seafood. Splash some on your fresh oysters next time you’re feeling cheeky! - Fabulous Ladies Wine Society.
